Rennes les Bains is superbly situated.
There is just so much to do in the area.
There are so many choices of activities in the village, within walking distance or just a short drive away.
The Village
Rennes les Bains, being blessed by great sources of natural hot spring water, boasts a magnificent thermal Swimming Pool with Hamam. There is also a natural ('Free') Hot Shower. The River Salz runs through the village, with plenty of spots for cooling off in the various swimmimg holes etc.
In the centre of the village is 'La Terrasse' a Well Being Centre offering Massages, Hot Tubs and Saunas.
There are Tennis Courts and a Minigolf.
We are surrounded by forests that are criss-crossed with footpaths and trails; from a 10 minute stroll, to an all day hike. At the right time of year this is a great place to birdwatch, go mushroom hunting and even looking for fossils.
Just a kilometre away is the Fontaine des Amours, which is a beautiful natural swimming spot. Rennes le Chateau, the centre of the famous Treasure Story and a location in the Davinci Code, is only 5 kms away. Esperaza also boast a Dinosaur Museum and Hat Museum.
The Village has a Local Shop/Bakery and there are various Restaurants
There is a weekly Local Market in Esperaza (15mins) every Sunday morning and Couiza just 10 mins, has a Supermarket with Petrol Station and a Convenience Store as well as further Bakeries, Restaurants, a Post Office and Newsagents. There are Bus links to Quillan , Limoux and Carcassonne
Activities Available
For local extreme sports there is White Water Rafting between Axat and Quillan and Canoeing between Couiza and Alet. The nearest Ski Station is at Camurac, just an hour away; whilst the larger and higher altitude Ski Resorts are a 2 hours Drive. The Gorges de Galamus, half an hour away, is a great Canyoning location. The area is perfect for Mountain Biking as well as more genteel 2 wheel sports. The Tour de France comes through the region most years and has on occasion passed within a couple of kilometers of the Village. Tandem Paragliding is available in the Ariege around a 90 minute drive. There is natural Rock Climbing around and about and an Indoor Climbing Wall 50 minutes away on the Plateau de Sault. Being a Limestone region, there are plenty of Potholes to visit, an Underground River that has Boat Trips, as well as various Prehistoric Caves and finally Tautavel, one of the oldest sites of Human Habitation in France, in the area.

Beautiful new Swimming Lake in Quillan, just 20 minutes drive. The water is filtered and crystal clear.
Opened last year, this swimming lake with beaches and activities, is a great alternative to driving down to the Coast. There is a Snack Bar, toilets and access if free. (The water slides etc are 6€/hr). There is also a second lake, where Paddle Boarding is available.
